Help Luka Get a Life-Changing Service Dog
Hi I am Luka Garst Grandma, he is a two year old boy with several medical issues, making him medically dependent. Most recently diagnosed with Hypertension in his heart that already had a ToF repair done. His cardiac Dr has suggested a cardiac service dog that can smell a heart problem before the machine can pick it up. this would allow us to know with enough time to get him to the hospital before a problem accurse. Basically, this dog could save his life, but with all the hospital, nursing, meds, and medical machine bills coming to the house. My daughter and her husband can't afford a life saving service dog on top of it. All his pulmomary Dr has asked is for it to be hyperalergenic.
Luka's life History:
For the past two years he has battled for his life. We started with a down syndrome diagnosis. Then at 1.5 months of age had to have open heart surgery to have a ToF repair done. he struggled for two months to get out of the CICU. With all the problems he was having. He should of only been there for a week. So now we have Down Syndrome and CHD. Then after finaly coming home. we were back in the hospital with Aspirated Pneumnia and Rhinovirus. causing him to get diagnosed with Chronic Lung Disease. Which we spent every other week after a three week stay back in the hospital with the same lung problems till early this year. During that time they also found problems with his digestive system and had to do two surgeries on it. one to fix the problem getting him diagnosed with severe acid reflux and GERD. the second to put in a Button so he could eat since he can't eat by mouth at all. around Halloween last year he ended up with a procedure to turn his button into a gjbitton bcuz he was still having severe problems going on. so at a year and a half he has had multiple hospital stays and surgeries to fix his problems and save his life. I. the past six months he has had a three more hospital stays and one of them being two months long because of his gut problems and the fact that he caught everything anyone had near him. you could sneeze and he would end up with rhinovirous in a few days. now at the lovely age of two he is not walking or talking and cant tell us if something is wrong. plus he has been diagnosed with Celiacs Disease and Hypertension in the heart. also has been lined up for a heart procedure for the hypertension test too see how severe it is. plus for a open heart surgery at the lovely age of four and every ten years after that. so when we say him having a cardiac service dog can save his life. we truly mean it. we have already had to go through like changingeasure with him during hospital stays to keep him with us. so if having a dog can keep us from ambo calls that could be to late for him. we hope to find the support in the people around him to help us get that dog.
We have found a place that sells hypoallergenic puppies, plus a lady in the DFW area who is licensed to train puppies to be service dogs for their owner. The training process for a service dog can take up to 1.5 years, so it is best for us to try to start this now.
We have applied for loans and grants and have had zero luck in getting help for Luka. So, it was suggested today to us to get a GoFundMe going for him. So here it is, and I hope we can receive some help from y'all. For every donation here, we will send you a free gift made with help from Luka. So please leave your address for us to send you a free gift.
