Hi, my name is Luiza. On May 5, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. I have already started treatment. I am Brazilian, and from the age of 3 I attended the American School of Campinas, São Paulo. When I was 9 years old, I lost my mother to cancer after she fought the disease for three years and underwent surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. Just two months later, the COVID-19 pandemic began (February 2020), and I continued my education online, staying at home with my father and my 6-year-old sister. In 2022, I moved to Kailua, Hawaii, to live with my aunt, my mother’s sister, and completed high school at Trinity Christian School. Last year, I began my college journey at Grand Canyon University (GCU) in Phoenix, Arizona, where I am studying Nutrition. After completing my first year, I traveled to Brazil on April 25 for my vacation, never imagining that just a few days later I would be facing cancer again—this time, inside my own body. I am determined to go through this treatment with faith, strength, and dedication, believing in a full recovery so that I can return to GCU in Phoenix and fulfill my dream of earning my degree in Nutrition. Today, I need your help. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who is able to support me during this difficult time. Every donation, prayer, and message of encouragement means more than words can express. With God’s grace, I believe I will overcome this and return to pursuing my dreams.
