Stand With Luisa: A Grandmother of 6 Fighting Stage 4 Cancer
My name is Kelsey Ramalho, and I’m writing this on behalf of my incredible mom, Luisa.
Our mom is 59 years old, a proud grandmother of 6 beautiful grandchildren, and the strongest woman we know. For over 20 years, she worked as a stone mason — doing physically demanding work with strength, determination, and pride. She has never been afraid of hard work.
But her greatest work has always been her family.
She raised her children as a single mother in Rye, NY so we could have access to a good education and better opportunities. She sacrificed everything to make sure we had stability, safety, and a future. There were times she struggled, but she never let us feel it.
And even when she herself had very little, she never turned her back on anyone. She has opened her home to those who were homeless. She has fed people when she barely had enough. She has always been the one who says “yes” when someone needs help.
Now, she is the one who needs help.
Mom has been diagnosed with Stage 4 stomach cancer along with bile duct cancer. What started as nausea and stomach discomfort quickly turned into hospital visits, procedures, drains, and devastating news no family is ever prepared to hear.
She now faces ongoing treatments, medical procedures, and daily physical challenges. Simple things like eating, walking, or resting comfortably can be exhausting. Yet through all of it, she remains hopeful, strong, and focused on her children and grandchildren. Who She Is, Our mom is more than a diagnosis.
She is a mother of two Kelsey, and Jean who devoted her life to raising us with strength and love.
She is a grandmother of 6 who shows up with pride and warmth for every grandchild.
She is a woman who built with stone for 20 years and built a family with even greater strength.
She is someone who helped the homeless even when she herself was struggling.
She has spent her entire life lifting others up.
Now we are asking for help to lift her up. Why We Are Asking for Help
Cancer doesn’t just affect the body — it impacts every part of life.
Because of her illness, our mom is unable to work. The medical bills, copays, prescriptions, biliary drain supplies, transportation to appointments, and basic living expenses are adding up quickly.
We are hoping to raise $20,000 to help cover:
• Medical copays and treatment costs
• Prescriptions and ongoing medications
• Biliary drain supplies and medical equipment
• Transportation to and from appointments
• Household bills and daily living expenses
This support will allow her to focus on healing instead of worrying about financial stress.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with our mom and our family during this fight.
With love and hope,
Kelsey Ramalho
