Luis was recently diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, a serious liver disease that may eventually require a transplant.

While he does have health insurance, the extended hospital stay and missed income are creating expenses that have added up quickly. After his discharge he will also need regular ongoing medical care.

As of 1/10 he has been admitted for 11 days with multiple complications and no projected discharge date. Because of this, Luis has been unable to work and will be out for the foreseeable future. His initial hospital stay in October lasted five days and resulted in $60,000 in medical charges, with him owing $4,000 out of pocket.
