Hi, my name is Luis Hernandez and I am a dialysis patient I have been on it for the last 7 years, it has been a huge change on my life in so many ways people that have follow my story knows how hard its been, physical, emotional and financial wise.

I have been my parents support since I was 16 and now that I can’t work the same way it’s been very tough for us, I also have my mother on hemodialysis for the last 17 years and she is my rock and my motivation to keep going.

Recently I had an accident, where I broke my arm, I had a slip and fall I broke the humerus bone ( that is the bone between your elbow and your shoulder). It broke right above my elbow which my doctor tells me is the worst place to break.

thank to God, the doctor saying that he didn’t need a dangerous surgery but the bone needs to heal by itself. It’s gonna need therapy and it’s going to take 15 to 18 weeks for the bone to heal, my wrist and my hand hurts to move the bit I can and my elbow has almost no range of motion. I don’t know how long this will last and if you know a little bit about my past story, I haven’t been able to work, I’m not even able to do anything around the house by myself self

I know I’m going to need Physic and Orthopedic therapy but I don’t know for how long and what benefits I will see. My arm will never be the same again.

My family and I have been through so much in life but this past few months it’s been the worse.

I am here today because I’m just so frustrated and don’t know where to turn, we need help. I please ask you to touch your heart. We need to pay our rent, buy groceries, pay our dialysis treatments, our medication the insurance doesn’t cover, pay the orthopedic and physical therapy. Hola, me llamo Luis Hernández y soy paciente de diálisis. Llevo siete años en este tratamiento y ha sido un cambio enorme en mi vida en muchos sentidos. Quienes han seguido mi historia saben lo difícil que ha sido, tanto física como emocional y económicamente. He sido el sustento de mis padres desde los 16 años y ahora que no puedo trabajar como antes, la situación es muy dura para nosotros. Mi madre también lleva 17 años en hemodiálisis y es mi pilar y mi motivación para seguir adelante.

Recientemente tuve un accidente: me fracturé el brazo. Me resbalé y me caí, y me rompí el húmero (el hueso que está entre el codo y el hombro). Se me rompió justo encima del codo, que según el médico es la peor zona para fracturarse. Gracias a Dios, el médico me dijo que no necesitaba una cirugía peligrosa, pero que el hueso debía sanar por sí solo. Necesitaré terapia y la recuperación del hueso tardará entre 15 y 18 semanas. Me duele la muñeca y la mano al moverlas, y mi codo casi no tiene movilidad. No sé cuánto durará esto y, si conocen un poco mi historia, sabrán que no he podido trabajar ni hacer nada en casa por mi cuenta. Sé que necesitaré fisioterapia y terapia ortopédica, pero no sé cuánto durará ni qué beneficios obtendré. Mi brazo nunca volverá a ser el mismo.

Mi familia y yo hemos pasado por muchas cosas en la vida, pero estos últimos meses han sido los peores. Estoy aquí hoy porque estoy muy frustrado y no sé a quién acudir.

Necesitamos ayuda. Les pido, por favor, que tengan compasión. Necesitamos pagar el alquiler, la comida, los tratamientos de diálisis, los medicamentos que no cubre el seguro, el ortopédico y la fisioterapia ortopédica.
