Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,
Today, I come to you with a heart full of hope and urgency for my dear friend Luis, a resilient 44-year-old warrior who has been battling kidney disease for over a decade. For the past 10 years, Luis has faithfully endured dialysis three times a week—Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. He has never missed a session, all while holding down a job and supporting his loving family. His strength and determination have inspired everyone around him, but now, after an agonizing wait on the transplant list, the miracle we’ve all prayed for is finally here. Luis is getting his life-changing kidney transplant!
This transplant isn’t just a medical procedure. It is a new beginning, a chance for Luis to reclaim his health, his energy, and his future. But recovery won’t be easy. He’ll be out of work for several months, focusing on healing, while his devoted wife takes time off to care for him. During this critical time, they’ll face mounting bills for rent, groceries, and everyday essentials. That’s why I’m launching this GoFundMe with a goal of $8,000 to provide the financial cushion they need so Luis can recover without the added stress of wondering how they’ll make ends meet. Every dollar counts, and even a little bit from each of us can make a world of difference.
This cause hits especially close to home for me. My own father, at 88 years old, is on dialysis and isn’t eligible for a transplant. Watching him fight every day has shown me the toll this takes, and it breaks my heart that we can’t give him the same hope. But Luis is young, full of life, and ready to thrive. If we rally together, we can help him seize this second chance. Let’s show him the power of community, compassion, and collective support. Your donation today could be the bridge that carries him through to a brighter tomorrow.
Please contribute what you can, share this page far and wide, and join me in lifting Luis up. Together, we can turn his long-awaited victory into a reality free from financial worry. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your generosity means everything.
With deepest gratitude,
Laura Silva England
