Hello, my name is Rocio Flores, the wife of 49-year-old Luis Morales, who was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). This disease seriously affects the lungs, causing scarring which reduces lung capacity and therefore the oxygenation of the body. Unfortunately, the causes are unknown, which makes its diagnosis and timely treatment even more complicated. This disease is progressive and irreversible.

Luis, who has been an extremely active, hardworking man, and dedicated to his family, has quickly worsened in recent months, diminishing his health more and more every day. In August, he started with oxygen therapy; however, his lungs are not responding to the extent that he can no longer perform the most basic and simple activities such as standing up to go to the bathroom or having a conversation without feeling like he is drowning.

The only option we have to help Luis recover the joy and energy to live is to perform a lung transplant. This procedure represents the only opportunity to catch his breath and save his life. It is the only hope for a future in which he can see his newborn granddaughter grow, share precious family moments, and return to the simple tasks and joys of life. Hola, mi nombre es Rocio Flores, la esposa de Luis Morales de 49 años de edad, quien fue diagnosticado con Fibrosis Pulmonar Idiopática (FPI). Esta enfermedad afecta gravemente a los pulmones, ocasionando cicatrización la cual reduce la capacidad pulmonar y, por ende, la oxigenación del organismo. Lamentablemente, se desconocen en la actualidad las causas que la originan, lo cual hace aún más complicado su diagnóstico y tratamiento oportuno. Esta enfermedad es progresiva e irreversible.

Luis, quien ha sido un hombre sumamente activo, trabajador, y dedicado a su familia, en los últimos meses ha empeorado rápidamente, mermando cada día más su salud. En el mes de agosto, inició con terapia de oxígeno; sin embargo, sus pulmones no están respondiendo, al grado de que él ya no puede realizar las actividades más básicas y simples como ponerse de pie para ir al baño o mantener una conversación sin sentir que se ahoga.

La única opción que tenemos para ayudar a Luis a recuperar la alegría y energía para vivir es realizar un trasplante de pulmón. Este procedimiento representa la única oportunidad de recuperar su aliento y salvar su vida. Es su única esperanza de un futuro en el que pueda ver crecer a su nieta recién nacida, compartir preciosos momentos familiares y volver a realizar las simples tareas y alegrías de la vida.
