Help Luis Morales Battle B-Cell Leukemia
Donation protected
As many of you know, our sweet boy Luis Morales has been diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on August 12th. Let us tell you what all we’ve been through leading up to us traveling to Cook Children’s in Fort Worth. About a month ago, he was having extreme leg pains that we thought were growing pains or a pulled muscle that started in his left leg. We were icing it and giving Tylenol and ibuprofen as needed. This continued off and on before he stopped walking and preferred to be carried. This led to being taken to the ER in Jacksonville; where they took X-rays of both legs, and was later sent home with no answers as to what’s causing his pain other than a full leg splint and crutches. We were referred to an orthopedic surgeon to try and pursue whether or not it was a torn ligament (etc) and booked an MRI. The following weeks didn’t get much better, and the pain was now in his right leg; so Trina (mom) took him back to Jacksonville ER and demanded for further testing. They did some bloodwork and his tests came back all over the place, so we got sent to Cook Children’s in Fort Worth. They have been taking care of us since the second we pulled up!!! They immediately ran some more bloodwork and looked more into it. And this is where we find out that Luis has Leukemia; they started his treatment August 13th with 3 procedures, pulling some of his bone marrow to check it, did a spinal tap, and put in a port to give him fluids and medicine. When they did the spinal tap they put in a little bit of the chemo into his spine to “jump start” the treatment to help attack and kill cancerous cells that could potentially be in his spinal fluid.
He has also been put on multiple different medications to help not only fight the cancer cells, but also to help bring up immune system. If any of y’all know, chemo brings down the immune system so it’s gonna be hard but it’s all definitely going to be worth it for our boy to be healthy again.
But we ask for your help now because of the following trips back and forth for his treatment that will be for the next 2 1/2 years. We will have to stay no more than an hour away for the first month of his treatment, after the initial one week hospital stay, with weekly appointments afterwards. Any amount you send our way will be a blessing; and we are entirely grateful for any help that comes our way! We are so appreciative for the support that we have, not only in the hospital but also outside of the hospital from friends and family. And we thank you for taking time to read about Luis’s story and if you can’t contribute financially, then we’ll always accept love and prayers from afar!
