My cousin Luis Enrique is a loving husband and involved father. He is loved by his wife and daughter very much!
A few years ago he started feeling tired and with any sort of exercise he would feel out of breath, he brushed it off but finally this fall saw a cardiologist. The cardiologist said that he had to do to the hospital ASAP because he heart was so enlarged and working so hard that he was bound to have a heart attack at any moment! Once my cousin was in the hospital they discovered that the artery from the heart to the lungs was blocked, causing his heart to work over time. He had a procedure done to eliminate the clot and try to get back to his life of working and providing for his family.  His doctors told him that his heart would never return to the normal size and that instead of working two jobs he could only work one. He returned to work and started his daily routine of caring for his family. He now had a crazy amount of medications to take but he was happy to be alive. His doctors told him that the medication was to prevent the clots from building up again! They also advised that if the medication did not work he needed to have surgery.
Well on Dec 12, he will need to have surgery, Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy. A pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE) is a surgical procedure that removes chronic blood clots from the arteries in the lung. It is a highly specialized surgery that was developed at the University of California, San Diego and is now performed in select hospitals in the United States and other parts of the world.  He is traveling to Orlando to have this surgery. This is a major surgery as he will need anywhere from 7-20 days In the hospital before he is discharged to go home and several weeks with oxygen. He can not work for at least 3 months! 
I set up this gofundme for him, to help him support his family, while he can not work. His wife works but can only provide a small portion on the family’s income. This will help pay their rent, groceries, pay their utilities. Please donate what you can, no amount is too small.

Mi primo Luis Enrique es un esposo amoroso y padre dedicado¡ Es amado por su esposa e hija mucho!Hace unos años comenzó a sentirse cansado y con cualquier tipo de ejercicio que le faltaba el aliento, no le presto mucha atención, pero finalmente este otoño vio a un cardiólogo. ¡El cardiólogo dijo que tenía que acudir al hospital lo antes posible porque su corazón estaba tan agrandado y trabajaba tan duro que estaba a punto de sufrir un ataque cardíaco en cualquier momento! Una vez que mi primo estuvo en el hospital, descubrieron que la arteria del corazón a los pulmones estaba bloqueada, lo que provocó que su corazón funcionara mas de lo normal. Se sometió a un procedimiento para eliminar el coágulo y tratar de volver a su vida de trabajar y mantener a su familia. Sus médicos le dijeron que su corazón nunca volvería al tamaño normal y que, en lugar de trabajar en dos trabajos, solo podría trabajar en uno. Regresó al trabajo y comenzó su rutina diaria de cuidar a su familia. Ahora tenía una cantidad loca de medicamentos que tomar, pero estaba feliz de estar vivo. ¡Sus médicos le dijeron que el medicamento era para evitar que los coágulos se acumulen de nuevo! También advirtieron que si la medicación no funcionaba, necesitaba someterse a una cirugía mayor. 

Bien, el 12 de diciembre, tendrá que someterse a una cirugía, tromboendarterectomía pulmonar. Una tromboendarterectomía pulmonar (TEP) es un procedimiento quirúrgico que extrae coágulos de sangre crónicos de las arterias pulmonares. Es una cirugía altamente especializada que se desarrolló en la Universidad de California, San Diego y ahora se realiza en hospitales seleccionados en los Estados Unidos y otras partes del mundo. Él está viajando a Orlando para tener esta cirugía. Esta es una cirugía mayor ya que necesitará entre 7 y 20 días en el hospital antes de ser dado de alta para ir a casa y varias semanas con oxígeno. ¡No puede trabajar durante al menos 3 meses!
