My Journey with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)

My name is Luis A. Lamboy, and I have been living with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), a hereditary condition that causes multiple cysts to grow in the kidneys and eventually leads to kidney failure. My kidneys have now reached a critical stage, and I have been on hemodialysis for the past two years.

The treatment, while keeping me alive, has changed my life in many ways. I lost my job after my employer denied my request for a reasonable accommodation for my dialysis schedule. Despite these challenges, I remain hopeful and determined to keep fighting.

I am now on the transplant lists at two hospitals, waiting for a kidney donor match. A living donor transplant would free me from dialysis, give me the ability to rebuild my life, and allow me to spend more quality time with my family and loved ones.

I am humbly asking the public for help. If you or someone you know would consider being tested as a potential living donor, it could be the greatest gift of life. Even if you cannot donate, simply sharing my story could help me connect with the person who can.
