Help Us Save Luffy ❤️
This morning started like every other. Our two beagles, Luffy and Hinata, went out to the backyard as they always do. But around 8:55 AM, when we went to let them back in, they were gone. Our back gate, which is always closed, was mysteriously open. We don’t know who could have done this.
We began searching immediately—driving around the neighborhood, checking the dog park, calling their names. Then we made our way toward the main road… and that’s when we saw a car stopped. We rushed over, terrified. It was Luffy and Hinata.
Luffy had been hit by a car just minutes before and was lying on the side of the road. Some kind strangers had already stopped to help, giving him water and trying to comfort him. We scooped him up and drove straight to the emergency vet.
Luffy has multiple open wounds and a dislocated leg. Thankfully, there are no broken ribs, but he needs to be hospitalized for ongoing care and close monitoring.
If you know me, you know my dogs are my world. I’ve always kept them insured, but due to a recent move, their coverage expired just last month. I was in the process of renewing it and truly didn’t expect something like this to happen in such a short window. We do everything we can to keep them safe—but this was something we never saw coming.
More than just our pet, Luffy is my son Julian’s best friend. They’ve grown up together—Luffy’s been by Julian’s side from the very beginning. Seeing both of them hurting and confused has been absolutely heartbreaking.
The initial vet estimate is $7,000, and that doesn’t include follow-ups, recovery treatments, and medications. It’s an overwhelming amount, and we’re doing everything we can, but we can’t do it alone.
We’re asking for help.
If you’re able to donate—even just a little—it would mean the world to us and help give Luffy a chance to fully recover. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this with others who might be able to help.
Luffy is the sweetest, goofiest, most loving little guy, and we’re heartbroken seeing him like this. Every bit of support, every share, every prayer counts.
Thank you for reading and for caring. We will continue to post updates on Luffy’s recovery here.
