Lucy is more than just my dog—she’s my lifeline and my constant companion. Four years ago, she came into my life as a depression support dog, and since then, she’s been by my side every single day. Recently, something happened that showed just how much she means to me. I was attacked by a pig and knocked to the ground. With my last bit of strength, I called out for Lucy. Without hesitation, she rushed in, bravely fought off the pig, and protected me until I was safe. I truly believe she saved my life that day.
Now, Lucy needs help. During that attack, she suffered a serious hip injury. The vet says she needs a hip replacement or, if that’s not possible, an amputation of her hind leg. As someone living with Parkinson’s disease and relying on Social Security, I simply can’t afford either option on my own. Lucy is only four years old and has so much life left to live. She’s not just my pet—she’s my emotional support and my best friend. I need her by my side every day, and she needs this surgery to have a chance at a happy, pain-free life.
I’m reaching out to ask for your help. Any support you can give will go directly toward Lucy’s surgery and recovery. Your kindness will help keep us together and give Lucy the chance she deserves. Thank you for reading our story and for caring about Lucy.
