Lucy is our 12-year-old tortie, currently in ICU at Cornell University. She was admitted on Sat., September 19, after we observed intense stomach cramping. Lucy refused a Churu, which any cat owner knows is serious. We headed out to the ER.
Lucy was diagnosed with pyelonephritis and then sepsis. She is currently on her second treatment of plasma to normalize her clotting.
Cornell has been phenomenal, and her doctors are doing everything they can to support her. That being said, we are not the kind of pet owners who pursue treatment beyond what the animal can sustain: every indication is that Lucy will come out of this with good health, and good quality of life.
We have never, ever been in a place where we have had to ask for help. We much prefer to give, despite having had numerous expenses (Hurricane Harvey, pets with rare and expensive ailments that have been treated, etc.) Asking for help is hard.
We wanted to set this up to channel donations directly to Cornell, but their billing office does not support this kind of direct donation to an account. Additionally, this $7000 total is subject to change (increase of course); we anticipate it ending up being over $10,000, but we are not asking for help with every penny!
If you have some spare change, we ask for your support for Lucy, our 12-year-old tortie currently in ICU at Cornell University.
