Help Lucy get the medical care she deserves

Tax deductible
8/18 Update: I have turned off the donating but will leave it up with her "after" picture. Thank you everyone for your donation to help her. I and SBR truly appreciates every dollar

8/14 update: While Lucy has had the needed surgery and is almost fully healed, I (and SBR) still appreciate the continued donations. When I started this GFM, it was after the 15th day of July so all the donations won't even get to SBR until the end of this month. The donation bucket is like a bucket with holes in it. Always draining out, and continuously trying to refill

Her stitches are just about healed up. no blood leaking for a good week now. She seems to be so much happier. She should be cleared for adoption in a week or two.

7/30 update: Lucy had her tail removed a couple days ago. She has done well since, except for this morning she started bleeding from a spot near the stitches. I took her to the same Vet, which is a 24hr ER Vet. They think she had a ruptured anal sac and that caused the opening. That being addressed, I am about to go get her and bring her back home.

I appreciate ALL donations made. They will be used to help this beautiful creature of God.

Lucy is a recent addition to the Suncoast Basset Rescue family. She was relinquished by her owner due to a medical condition on her tail that the vetermined they could not afford to take care of. She is what I would call a tiny Basset Hound, coming in at only 23 lbs. While she does seem underweight, I don't think she will be much more than 30 lbs when healthy. She is 12 years old and 90% deaf. She loves to get cuddles and sleep at my feet during the daytime. She loves her some walks and gets along great with the other dogs in the house. I think her future family will fall instantly in love with her.

She came to SBR with a nasty growth on the top of her tail. It requires surgery. Just today, at the specialist, they stated the best course of action is to amputate the tail. With the multiple doctor visits, bloodwork, xrays etc, she has already cost the rescue close to $1000. The estimate for the amputation is between $2000 and $3000. I am trying to help the rescue out with any funds possible. Your donation will go directly to SunCoast Basset Rescue, to help Lucy or any other Basset under our care. Any amount is appreciated.

More information about Suncoast Basset Rescue Inc: Who is Suncoast Basset Rescue Inc.? Suncoast Basset Rescue is a not-for-profit, volunteer effort that rescues Basset Hounds from abusive, abandoned and unwanted situations just for the love of the breed. Our organization gives bassets a second chance to live, as they were intended- as someone's best animal friend. Our rescue efforts began in 1997 with two volunteers and help from the Suncoast Basset Hound Club of Tampa, Inc. We have rescued over 5,100 bassets since then. Today, Suncoast Basset Rescue Inc is a 501c(3), not-for-profit organization, which exists solely on donations. Where do the dogs come from? Rescued bassets are from pounds, shelters, humane societies, some are strays whose owners cannot be found or are relinquished by owners who no longer want them.

Thank you so much.
