Hi everyone.
I truly didn’t expect to be writing one of these, and honestly, asking for money really sucks. But I love this cat very deeply, and right now I’m in desperate need to give her the best care possible.
My cat Lucy has been my constant and baby for the past almost 4 years, and over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been through a nightmare medical rollercoaster. It started when she was acting off and having GI issues, so I took her to the vet. Her blood work came back showing dangerously low red blood cell counts. More tests followed, none giving us any answers. Then came an ER visit, an abdominal ultrasound (no bleeds or ulcers found), an enlarged spleen that needed to be poked and tested (thankfully fine), and now she’s on a combination of steroids and antibiotics.
So far, we’ve spent several thousand dollars just to rule things out. The vets still don’t have a definitive diagnosis. The only remaining test is a full bone marrow aspiration, which alone costs several thousand more dollars.
For now, we’re trying the steroid route, but if that doesn’t work, the bone marrow aspiration is the next and only step to try to get an answer and potentially provide life-saving information on treatment.
I’m doing everything I can, but between the costs already spent and what may still come, I’m truthfully overwhelmed, especially in this economic climate where everything is already so hard for all of us. I would never ask for help unless I truly did not have other options.
Anything you can give will go directly to Lucy’s vet bills, including the bone marrow aspiration if it comes to that. And if you can’t give, sharing this means the world.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any generosity you can offer. Lucy really means everything to me, and I just want to get her the best care we can provide her at this time.
With love and gratitude,
Sarah
