My name is Lucy Thongsolone, and together with two close friends, we have been farming in our community for many years. The March 2026 Kona Low Storm changed everything for us. Overnight, the floodwaters rose up to our chests, sweeping through our home and carrying away everything we owned. All of our crops—bananas, lemon grass, okra, bitter melon, and more—were lost in the storm. Our home was left uninhabitable, and we are currently staying in our van, which no longer works due to water damage. As a farmer, my van is critical for traveling between the different farms where I work, and losing it has made starting over even more difficult. We are reaching out for help because we need immediate support to get back on our feet. The funds raised will go toward urgent needs. Every bit of support will help us take the first steps toward recovery and stability after this disaster. I am so proud of our community for coming together during such a challenging time.
