My name is Josh, and I am reaching out to you today with a plea for help on behalf of my two best friends, Lucky and Kurtis. These aren't just pets; they are my family, and they have been with me through some of the darkest times of my life.

Lucky, a sweet dachshund, came into my life in 2018. Her previous owner was planning on putting her down, and I couldn't let that happen. When I brought her home, I learned she had spent her first five years with an abusive owner. She was so terrified that any sudden movement would cause her to cry and lose control of her bodily functions. It was heartbreaking. It took almost a year for her to trust me, but she eventually did. She healed and grew confident enough to walk up to strangers without fear.

My other dog is Kurtis. He's also a happy and loving companion who has been a source of comfort for me.

My journey with these two has been difficult. Over the years, I faced a series of personal tragedies: losing close friends, my grandmother, and almost my own life to MRSA. I was left in a deep depression and lost everything, including my home. Through it all, Lucky and Kurtis's unwavering love and companionship kept me going.

Just as we started to get back on our feet, Lucky's health took a turn for the worse. She needed emergency surgery for a hernia and tumors, and all of her teeth had to be pulled due to a severe infection. I was told to put her down, but I couldn't abandon her. I found a way to pay for her surgeries, and she recovered beautifully.

Now, we face another crisis. Lucky developed a severe kidney infection, and her kidneys started to fail. I was able to borrow the money for emergency dialysis to save her life, but it was a huge financial strain. Both Lucky and Kurtis now require expensive, special food to stay healthy. I also need to pay back the loan I took out for Lucky's treatment and cover ongoing vet check-ups to make sure she's not in pain.

I want to give them the best life possible in their senior years. Kurtis, who is 15, and Lucky, who is 13, have given me everything, and I am desperate to give them the comfort and happiness they deserve. I would also love to get a collapsible wagon so I can take them to the park and other places, as Kurtis has a hard time walking long distances.
