Help Luciana get back on her feet (pun intended)

Hi Everyone, we started this page to support our friend and long time colleague Luciana Torres get the funding she needs while recovering from a traumatic injury.

For those of you who don't know her, she is an avid rock climber, a talented gilder and frame conservator, and a giving and loyal friend.

Two weeks ago, while at her local rock climbing gym, she had a bad fall- which resulted in an abnormal break within her right Tibia. While hospitalized, awaiting surgery- she developed a rare complication called Compartment Syndrome, requiring emergency double Fasciotomies. What should have been a routine operation to reset bone, turned into 4 complicated, painful surgeries, and a two week hospital stay.

Since covid, she has been freelancing, and paying for her health insurance out of pocket. She cannot put weight on her leg for ten weeks, needs constant care, specialized transportation and physical therapy.

As you can imagine, all of these additional expenses are difficult to plan for, especially as a freelancer with no money coming in —as she is currently unable to work.

As we all know too well, this city is expensive and unforgiving. This kind of unexpected accident could happen to anyone. As her friends, we are trying to support her through her recovery, as she would never ask, but would support anyone in a similar circumstance.
