On March 3, 2026, our dear sister in Christ, Lucia Vazquez Navarrete, experienced a devastating tragedy that no family should ever have to endure. A sudden house fire destroyed her home, leaving it completely uninhabitable. In a matter of moments, Lucia and her five beautiful boys lost everything—their clothes, personal belongings, treasured memories, and the place they called home.
Lucia is not just a loving and devoted mother; she is a pillar of faith and service in our community. As a caring educator in Brawley, CA, she pours her heart into supporting and guiding children every single day. At home, her love is even greater. She is the proud mother of five incredible boys, all on the autism spectrum, who are her greatest blessing and purpose. Her faith has always been her strength. Lucia and four of her sons faithfully serve in the choir at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Imperial, California. Through their voices, they uplift our parish and bring joy and worship to so many. Now, they need us to lift them up.
The fire has left the family with nothing but the clothes they were wearing. They urgently need support for temporary housing, clothing, food, school supplies, therapy-related needs, and eventually rebuilding their lives. The road ahead will be long, especially as Lucia works to ensure stability and routine for her boys during this incredibly traumatic time.
If you are able, please consider donating to help Lucia and her sons begin again. No amount is too small. If you cannot give financially, we ask for your prayers and that you share this page with others. Lucia has always given so much to her students, her church, and her community. Now it is our turn to surround her family with love, support, and hope. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Christ during this difficult time.
