Help Lucia and Corina Battle Their Health Challenges

The Wilson family is in need of our support. Tyler, Corina, Josiah, and Lucia are facing more than one family should have to bear, especially all at one time.

For those of you who don't know the family, Lucia is a kindergarten student at Mount Merici Academy, and one of the brightest rays of sunshine you can bottle into a tiny human being. She always wears a smile, is always willing to help, and can brighten anyone's day.

Lucia has a genetic condition called Neurofibromatosis, or NF for short. One complication that occurs from NF is tibia dysplasia (bowing/hollowing of her right tibia bone). Recently, Lucia was also diagnosed with an Optic Nerve Glioma, this is a brain tumor on her optic nerve. This is also a complication from NF. She will begin chemotherapy treatment during the first week of October, and will require treatment on a weekly basis. This will require her to miss school, and of course weigh heavily on she and her family, as well as our school community.

As if this were not already enough for the family to bear, Corina, Lucia's mother is facing a serious health battle of her own. She has been diagnosed with a tumor in another area of her brain, and is currently recovering and waiting on results from a recent biopsy. With a recovery time of 6+ weeks from this recent procedure as well as possible treatment ahead of her, Corina is going to need to take a step back from work to care for herself and her family.

The Wilson family is a kind, friendly, faithful family. These recent battles will not only test them emotionally, but financially as well.
