On Hold until we get more clear update from the vet, Please check back in a week or two: Luci has been recovering and is showing great progress thanks to all that helped to fund her treatments. They have been reduced from 2x a week to one time a week but there are no more available funds to continue to help her get the treatments: laser therapy and acupuncture.. The costs are $500 for 5 weeks of acupuncture and $600 for 10 weeks of laser therapy. Any amount will help her further recovery as she still has issues with releasing herself due to the instability of her legs (and she is a full size large German Sheppard). We realize that many animals are in desperate need of help right now more than ever but we have to ask just in case people will continue to help her. Thank you so much for considering continuing to help Luci. Thank you for considering helping her further.

Original Post:
On October 7th, my friend's 2 dogs, Luci and Achilles, were stabbed by a man with what we think was a box cutter. Achilles, a pit bull that loves everyone, was stabbed behind his ear and in his side. Luckily for him, he had muscle, so his injuries were bad but not as bad as poor Luci. Achilles remained hospitalized until Thursday, October 24th. Luci, a German Shepherd is also a big love bug. She was not as lucky. Her injuries are more severe. She can't use her hind legs. They are not sure what exactly was damaged when she was stabbed. Possibly her spinal cord or some nerves in that area. She was just released from the ASPCA hospital on Sunday, 10/26/25.

Luci needs specialized care from a neurologist. She needs physical therapy and further specialized care to hopefully be able to use her hind legs one day. She doesn't have insurance. Right now, she needs 2 orthopedic beds (one back up when the other is soiled) , a double harness to hold her up, wee wee pads, hind leg braces, and shoes to protect her feet from scraping on the ground. She most likely needs a wheelchair, and a ramp will need to be built to get her in and out of the house. The wheelchair is around $500 alone. We don't know the extent of the doctor and therapy bills to come, but they certainly will be extensive. We are asking for your help to give Luci a chance to walk again. Please help her if you can. She was so happy to come home yesterday and see Achilles and her other dog that she dragged herself to be with them.
Please share far and wide. Thank you.
