Luci’s ACL CCL Surgery Fund

Hi everyone,

My name is Lindsay, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and a lot of hope.

If you’ve met sweet Luci, you know how special she is to me: gentle, loving, and full of light. She is more than just a pet—she’s my service dog, my constant companion, and truly everyone’s best friend. She’s helped me through some of the hardest moments in my life, and now, she needs me—us—to help her.

A few days ago, Luci tore her ACL (also called the CCL in dogs). She’s in pain, unable to safely walk up the stairs to go potty (we live in a basement), work with me when I’m out in public, or play in the pretty Colorado summer without limping and looking like she’s in pain. The only way to get her back on her paws and by my side is through surgery. Without the surgery, Luci will be unable to walk properly, and she won’t be able to do her job as my service dog. She’ll be sidelined for ~6 months or more without it. The estimate is $7,000, and unfortunately, it’s not something I can cover on my own.

It’s incredibly hard for me to ask for help. I’ve gone back and forth about even creating this page. I feel like a bad dog mom for not being able to get her immediate care, and the guilt of that has been heavy. Luci has been with me through it all—deaths, a broken engagement, heartbreaks, sobriety, relapse, rehab, cross-city and cross-country moves, sunrises, sunsets, and so many sacred, beautiful moments in between. She has never left my side. She’s been my anchor, my calm, my joy. And now that she’s hurting, I hate that I can’t help her the way she’s helped me.
