Hi, I’m Haylee (a.k.a “Bood,” a.k.a “Aunty Fluff”), and I’m reaching out to share a little about my incredible best mate and niece, Luci, and her whirlwind of a daughter, River.
Luci is 33, a kickass single mum, big sister extraordinaire, inspiring daughter and one hell of an independent woman. She is battling breast cancer (invasive ductal carcinoma IDC) while juggling her tiny sass queen of a 4 year old (she’s a Luci 2.0), family chaos, and life in general. She’s already had a lumpectomy and lymph node biopsy, has completed Phase 1 of chemo (4 fortnightly rounds), and is currently undergoing Phase 2 (12 weekly rounds), with the potential for extra surgery or daily radiation depending on some fancy DNA results.
She’s had to cut back to casual work hours because, well… chemo isn’t exactly a IV drip full of caffeine and production boosting vitamins. Her mum, Liss, has moved in to help care for Luci and River while her dad, Richard, stays down in Katanning to keep working. Her sister, Breanna, has travelled over from Queensland while her partner stays back working, and will be living with them for 12 weeks to help keep day-to-day life afloat. Her brothers, Zeke and Jacob, are also pitching in - Zeke traveling back from Melbourne again in April to help with the daily load, and Jacob making his big sis proud with all he achieves while requiring 24/7 care himself. He’s another reason Luci keeps fighting strong.
The family is doing everything they can, but with bills, living costs, and treatment expenses piling up, it’s… a lot.
This GoFundMe is here to help cover:
• Everyday bills while Luci focuses on kicking cancer’s ass
• Family support costs while she’s in treatment
• Medical related expenses and whatever else pops up (because life loves surprises)
Every little bit helps. Donate, share, or just send good vibes. Right now, Luci’s focus needs to be on healing, and River needs her mum fully present. If we can pitch in and lighten the financial load, it’ll make a huge impact on the whole family.
Thanks for supporting this incredible mum and her little whirlwind of a daughter and for helping us all breathe just a little easier while Luci battles the big stuff
