My name is Jessica Lewis and I am from Detroit MI. I am the wife of a Jamaican.

As you all know, Jamaica was hit by a category 5 hurricane (Melissa) on Tuesday Oct 28th. Melissa caused catastrophic damage across the island. Many towns were washed away.

My husband Lucci lives in Tucker District, which is in Montego Bay. They were hit pretty hard. Luckily for us, our home/children were spared. Other family members were not so lucky. Several of them are now homeless.

For those who may not know, tourism is the fuel that keeps Jamaica going. Most Jamaicans work in some sector of tourism, including Lucci. They will be without work until further notice.

This fundraiser is personal for me as Jamaica is my second home and my family there needs assistance. We appreciate any amount that you are willing to give. Everything helps! The funds will go directly to my husband and our family to assist with food, water, medicine, hygiene products or whatever they may need for day to day survival until they are able to get back on their feet.
