Help Lucas the Cobbler Recuperate

GoFundMe for Lucas the Cobbler, My Father.

Lucas the Cobbler is the owner and sole operator of Broadway Shoe Repair. This is a mom and pop business that has been in Tempe, Arizona for the past 60 years. He has been at this shop since 1986, considering it his second home. He is a man of strong faith, a hard worker, and a talented third generation cobbler that has shared his craft as a service to all local residents. He is also my dad, the man who has never taken time to himself and has always put our family first and somehow always found ways to help his community and others in need.

This past year was a very challenging time for everyone, but for our family, it hit us extremely hard. January of 2020 started with a car accident that left my mother and sister seriously injured. This caused him to have to take sometime away from the shop to take care of them while they recovered.

Shortly there after, the lockdowns were beginning due to COVID-19. While on lockdown, in July he was having health complications and it was discovered that my dad needed an immediate and unexpected invasive surgery that would have him unable to work, let alone move. The surgery was a success and his post recovery had to be cut short so he could get back to the shop. In October he was able to come back to work, even though he was not completely healed.

He was able to run the shop for three months before he was diagnosed with COVID-19 to begin 2021. The virus almost took his life due to the conditions he was still facing from the surgery. Covid had left him in a bedridden state but as of February this year, he is finally back home from the hospital and on his way to recovery again.

For those of you that personally know him, you’ve seen how talented he is with his trade and he is eager to make a comeback once more. We as a family have been helping him with everything we can but the expenses have surpassed what we are able to collectively supply.

We are working to raise money to help keep Broadway Shoe Repair open until he can get healthy to run it again, which he, his faith in god, our family and his doctor believe can be done.

Lucas values all his friends and customers that have been coming to his shop for decades and with your help and preyers, he is looking towards a reopening upon his full recovery very soon.
