Hello, I am Christina’s cousin Amy, and I am launching a fundraiser for the Palmer family. Christina and Jen’s son Lucas was born March 22, 2024 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). Lucas was immediately brought over to Boston Children's Hospital where he was admitted and has remained since he was born. Lucas has already had two open heart surgeries.

On March 29, 2024 Lucas coded and was placed on ECMO. As Lucas begin to heal and look to be improving, he again had to be resuscitated on June 6, 2024. He was brought back to the CICU. This event took a strong toll on Lucas’s heart and body.

Lucas had a cardiac catheterization procedure which showed the pressures in his heart were too high. His heart will not be able to support his body to much longer, and the Glenn procedure is no longer an option. This week, on June 25, 2024, the Advanced Cardiology team has decided put Lucas on the list for a heart transplant. Lucas will have to remain inpatient at Boston Children Hospital for what could be a few months or even a year. Lucas will be waiting there until he receives a heart, and he is healthy enough to go home. His family will continue to take turns by his bedside while traveling back to RI to maintain some kind of normalcy for their other son Gavin. Any support you can give to this family during this difficult time will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for all the support our family received during our time with Lucas. Unfortunately Lucas passed away on August 5th 2024 at 7:25p.m on the roof top garden of Boston Children Hospital. He was held by his mothers as he took his last breath and became an Angel.
