Five years ago, I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and had a defibrillator/pacemaker implanted. Over the years, I’ve been on handfuls of medications to try to increase my heart function, but right now, my heart is only working at 12%. My team of cardiologists at Medical City Heart and Spine has determined that I need a heart transplant to survive. Until a heart becomes available, I need an LVAD implanted, which also requires open heart surgery. This means I’ll be in a coma in the ICU for a week, then recovering in the hospital for four more weeks, and unable to drive for at least fourteen weeks after that.
The financial burden is overwhelming. The funds raised here will help pay for medical bills that my insurance doesn’t cover, help me maintain the health insurance I need to qualify for a new heart, and cover prescriptions and household bills while I recover and can’t work. I never imagined I’d be in this position, but I have no other alternatives or family that can help.
Any help would be amazing. If you know me, you know I’d give the shirt off my back to the next person in need. I’m so embarrassed even making this, but your support—no matter how small—would mean the world to me. Thank you for reading and for any help you can give.
