Help Lucas Finish Cancer

A real life nightmare for Lucas all started back in November 2016. Two days after his 35th Birthday, Lucas was diagnosed with stage 3b cancer. Over the last two years he has undergone 5 surgeries, radiation, and three different cancer treatments, all while continuing to work to provide for his family. I personally have watched Lucas and his sweet young family, his wife Jessica and 2 young children ages 9 and 12, persevere with remarkable strength through all the illnesses and set backs that have arisen from the cancer and treatments.  As if cancer is not enough for this family to have to endure, all of the treatment that Lucas has undergone has unfortunately caused terrible arthritis pain as well as irreversible damage to his endocrine system… his pituitary gland, adrenal gland, thyroid and pancreas no longer work, causing type 1 diabetes. Because of this, Lucas is fully dependent on insulin among other medications. In January of this year they received more devastating news that his cancer has progressed to stage 4. Lucas just started his fourth different cancer treatment and they have to be optimistic with this one as they are running out of treatment options. Now Lucas is no longer able to work and has no income coming in as he and has used all of his sick time, PTO and FMLA. As of March 1st, he will no longer receive the amazing insurance benefits he has received from the School District that he has worked so hard for. Fortunately, they will hold his job for up to a year and he is able to return when he is healthy again. But for now they have to pay for COBRA insurance which is very expensive. Jessica has been so incredibly strong in all of this, working hard at her job and also being a full time mom and care taker at home at times when Lucas feels so unwell he is in bed for days. Being that Lucas is their main provider, the Gray family is now in need of assistance to cover their costly monthly insurance premium, medical bills, and everyday living expenses.
