Help Lucas Fight for His Life

Donation protected

Hello friends, family, and community-

2020 has proven to be the WORST YEAR EVER for many people, but especially for Lucas Hallock and his family.  In late 2019, Lindsay noticed that Lucas was very tired all the time and would complain of bad headaches.  When she took him to his primary care they thought that maybe it was mono.  Lindsay had set up an appointment for Lucas to be seen for mono on a Tuesday in early January 2020.  On January 5th, Lucas was taken to Rady's Children's Hospital due to severe fatigue and headaches instead.  Lindsay had a gut feeling something was way off and rushed him in.   When they got to the ER, they took Lucas in for a scan and immediately saw something in his brain.  He was rushed over to surgery, and after two brain surgeries, the doctors were able to remove an 8cm size tumor from his frontal lobe.

As Lindsay and Sam were living their worst nightmare, even a bigger one approached them.  Lucas was diagnosed with a HIGH-GRADE GLIOMA (Glioblastoma).

Since then, Lucas has been through severe treatments, that include chemotherapy and radiation.  He has had two rounds of radiation within a 9-month time frame.  He has gone in for radiation every single day for 6 and a half straight weeks and then he had to do it again for 5 weeks a few months later due to another lesion in the brain.  On top of the radiation, Lukey has had to have chemotherapy, blood transfusions, platelet transfusions amongst other things.  As well, he has to go in for an MRI every 6 weeks where he is put under anesthesia for the procedure.

On Monday, Nov 16th, Lucas went in for his third brain surgery.  After Thanksgiving, Lucas went in to go into a chemotherapy infusion which he had an allergic reaction.  After the surgery, Lucas had another MRI which revealed the tumor growing and infiltrating his brain.  Because of the growth, he started a new treatment

Lucas had such severe reactions to the different chemo treatments that he has not been able to live a normal life. He has been very tired and vomiting so severely that he had to be on anti-nausea meds.  The anti-nausea meds made him so weak that he couldn’t keep his eyes open or even speak. The doctors have now advised additional treatments that are not covered by insurance.

Lucas just turned 7 years old on October 22! He is one of the kindest, sweetest and smart kids there is.  He has the most amazing disposition on life and the best attitude to get him through this tough journey.  He loves everything NASA, his little sister Charlotte, family, friends, and his new puppy Billie.

There has been an amazing outpour of love and support from friends, family, and the community, and the Hallock family is very grateful.  The purpose of this Gofundme page is to raise money to help the Hallock family with their new life of medical bills, doctor appointments, the ongoing unknowns, and incremental costs.  With our donations, they will be able to pay for medical deductions, bills, and therapy needed to get through this horrible time in their lives.   They can get help for Charlotte when they can't be home and need to be with Lucas.  They can get help around the house, so Lindsay and Sam can focus on their children and be present for Lucas.  These are all incremental costs that have been unexpected and are needed to help fight this battle. Now that Lindsay has to be available to take Lucas to doctors nonstop, this also means she can no longer get a job, which she was planning to do this year as Charlotte went to school.

Anyone's life can change in a split second. It's hard to believe it can happen to anyone let alone someone we know and care for.  Please consider contributing to the Hallock family.

With love, gratitude, and sincere appreciation.
