Dear Family, Friends, Dog lovers and Rescuers,

Help for our beloved pet, Luca!

The day before Christmas Luca tore his ACL (cruciate ligament) slipping on the Minnesota winter ice; due to his injury he has been in constant pain and unable to walk on all fours. Luca needs surgery to repair his ACL so he can be pain free, and continue his work as a therapy dog in the Minneapolis area. 

Luca, a Brittany, was found chained to a tractor in Spain, in poor health, until he was rescued by American Brittany Rescue and brought to the United States in 2018. We were fortunate to have been chosen to be his forever family in Feb 2019. Luca has been through hard times, many teeth needed to be pulled, from his lack of nutrition and possibly chewing on his chain that bound him. 

Luca is the sweetest, most affectionate dog, and we knew he would be perfect as a therapy dog. In 2022, Steve and Luca passed all the therapy dog training and tests and they were certified in 2022. Steve and Luca have been visiting a local hospital and nursing home every week.

This has been a hard year but a blessed year. After Steve’s full recovery from a sudden stroke in September, they were able to continue their volunteering every week, until Luca’s ACL injury. Steve and Luca miss visiting the hospital and seeing the joy he brings to the patients and staff. Luca has a special fondness for nurses.

Please help us bring Luca’s mobility back so he can once again do what he loves: a walk in the park, visiting hospitals, and chasing squirrels.

All donations will go to his medical costs and any excess funds that are collected will be donated to the American Brittany Rescue.
