Hi! I'm Luca and I'm fat. No. Really! Like, really fat! Like, I'm 5'1" and 352lbs.

Some of you know that I was diagnosed with type II diabetes this year, and since the diagnosis, I've been taking my health ultra seriously.

I've completely changed what I eat, how I eat, when I eat. I go for walks. I'm on medications like metformin and ozempic. And so far, with these drastic efforts, I've lost 20lbs since the diagnosis in March!

But the struggle isn't over.

I'm getting bariatric surgery to assist in taking back my life. I miss playing sports. I miss hiking. I miss rock climbing. I miss rollerblading and biking. I miss being able to walk without a cane or walker. I miss a lot of things that I just can't do at this weight.

That's where you come in.

I need help.

Weight loss surgery isn't cheap, even with insurance.

Right now, my surgery date is scheduled for June 26th, 2024. I have a great medical team and have already completed TEN of FIFTEEN (10/15) pre-op appointments.

The bills, unfortunately, are starting to add up, and the procedure (bariatric sleeve), is an in-hospital stay operation and I need help covering the bill.

Right now, I've been quoted about $2000 for the procedure itself, but do not have an estimate for the hospital stay.

This gofundme will help cover the estimated out-of-pocket costs of this necessary surgery with a goal of $3000 for now. $250 will go towards the final pre-op visit with my surgeon to cover the costs of pre-op/post-op food and vitamins as prescribed.
