Hi everyone! I recently moved across the country from FL to WA to start my new job as a fish biologist with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. I'm 25 and starting my full-time career after 6 years of college and grad school. Five days ago, and two months into my job, I found a collar-less puppy in the rain running across the road in the middle of nowhere, 5 minutes away from a small salmon hatchery. The hatchery I was working at did not have any service or any houses nearby.

I pulled over right away to pick her up, and she came right to me as she was shivering and whimpering. As soon as I put her in the car, I noticed a small growth on the back of her neck/part of her shoulder. I instantly brought her to a vet near me and found out that she does not have a chip. The vet was unable to do a full checkup on her at this time. I have posted her everywhere in hopes of finding her owner, but it seems as if she may have been dumped.

I still have not found the owner and want to make sure this puppy gets the care that it needs. I have yet to find a foster that is willing to spend this amount of money on this little girl.

I named her Luca. Luca deserves a chance at life. The person who adopted her likely saw her begin to develop a growth and abandoned her rather than get her treatment. They failed her. Given this unknown and potentially terminal health condition, the shelters will likely euthanize her as well.

I am asking for anyone to help me give this innocent puppy a chance. She is so, so sweet and is learning more every day. She will be the best addition to someone's family as long as she gets the help she needs now.
