Help Luca get surgery
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Madison. This is my 3-year-old fur baby, Luca.
On Saturday, December 4th I noticed that Luca wasn’t acting like herself. She was panting heavily, very limited in movement, and overall appeared very lethargic.
I monitored her over the next few days and ultimately decided to take her to my job, where I work as a Veterinary Technician. We ran blood work, took abdominal and thoracic radiographs, as well as abdominal and thoracic ultrasounds. The radiographs and ultrasounds both showed fluid around her chest, but it wasn’t until we tapped her chest that we saw the severity of the situation. We extracted 300mls of milky fluid from her chest in one tap. For those unaware, that’s 4 ½ full tubes of fluid – equivalent to about 2 cups of coffee.
Unfortunately, the only way to save my baby is through a multi-step surgery plan. She’ll need a CT (cat scan), Echo (echocardiogram), and the surgery itself followed by many follow ups.
Me being a Vet Tech is great because I was able to recognize the symptoms before the issue was beyond repair. Unfortunately, my facility doesn’t carry out non invasive surgeries of this nature so I’ll have to take Luca to another animal hospital. Having to take her outside of my home facility makes things more expensive, but it’s her best chance at a less invasive surgery and a swift recovery.
With your help, I know that my baby can get back to her normal sweet, playful self.
