Support Luc: A Truly Remarkable Young Man

Luc is our incredible, resilient little brother. Born with Cerebral Palsy, Luc defies expectations every single day. At 19, he’s already accomplished more than most people dream of. Despite having limited control over his arms and upper body, Luc is an excellent soccer player and a musician. He plays drums and bass guitar with his feet! He graduated high school with honours, completing his assignments using his feet to type. This is a young man who turns obstacles into opportunities, always giving his best.

Now, Luc is pursuing a Web Design program at college. In his recent assignments, he scored several perfect 100% grades—all while taking 2-5 times longer than others to complete the same tasks. But he doesn’t let that stop him. Luc shows up every day, puts in the work, and refuses to give up. His drive, perseverance, and talent are nothing short of inspiring.

Luc Needs Our Help

Luc has always worked hard for everything he has, but now, he needs your support. He was receiving disability assistance from the Newfoundland government, but when he took out a student loan to pay for his education, he lost the support that helped cover his daily living expenses, including medication. Luc requires daily doses of an expensive medication for his Cerebral Palsy. The student loan has only provided enough for about $200 a month in food and living expenses, which is far from enough, especially in Newfoundland where the cost of living is extremely high.

Luc’s mom, Karen, 79 years old, has dedicated her life to helping others. She doesn’t have the means to support his needs, as she survives on a modest income from her Canada Pension Plan (CPP). For 25 years, she selflessly volunteered in Haiti providing educational opportunities for children and families. She returned to Canada at age 75 to ensure that Luc could receive the high school education he needed to pursue post-secondary studies.

You Can Make a Difference

To continue his education this year, Luc needs $10,000. If we can raise $40,000, it will cover the full 4-year program, giving him the opportunity to finish what he’s started. But there’s more — Luc struggles with dental issues due to falls he experienced - he can't break his fall with his arms. He knocked out teeth, making it difficult for him to eat and live comfortably. With the right dental implants, Luc could regain his ability to eat and smile without pain. These implants would cost around $10,000 (he'd have to be put under to have dental work done) but it would make an incredible difference in his life.

But, he needs support to continue reaching his full potential.
