My name is Luann Disz, and I’ve called Ranchero Village my home for the past seven years. This mobile home was left to me by my mom, and it’s been my safe haven ever since. On June 25, a tornado tore through our community with almost no warning, and my home was one of the first to be hit. In just seconds, the storm ripped away my carport, laundry room, and the new back lanai I had just rebuilt after Hurricane Milton. My brand new roof, finished only days before, was completely destroyed. The devastation was overwhelming, and seeing my home in ruins for the first time was a moment I’ll never forget.
I am a single widow and rely solely on my own finances. The damage is extensive: my water main and pipes are broken, the electric box is hanging off the house, and the subfloor and new flooring I planned to install are now ruined. With hurricane season approaching, I urgently need to repair the water and electricity, replace lost parts of my home, and make it safe and livable again. My goal is to start rebuilding, one step at a time, so I can have a place to call home once more.
This has been a traumatic and exhausting experience, but I am grateful for any support. Every donation will go directly toward making my home safe and livable—starting with the most urgent repairs. Thank you for reading my story and for any help you can give. Sharing my fundraiser is also a huge help as I work to rebuild my life.
