Hello, my name is Wynetta Norwood, and I am the proud mother of Loyal DeLeon. Asking for help is never easy, but today I am putting my pride aside because my son has an opportunity in front of him that I do not want finances to take away.

Loyal is preparing to become a first generation college student and pursue Sports Management. As a single mother, I have done my best to provide for my children, but our family has faced housing instability, financial hardship, health challenges, and loss. Through it all, Loyal has kept going. He worked throughout high school while balancing school, athletics, and his job as a lifeguard. His journey has not been perfect, but I have watched him grow, take responsibility, and become determined not to let his circumstances define his future.

This summer, we also unexpectedly lost my mother, Loyal's grandmother, who was a major part of his life. While our family is still grieving, I am trying to prepare my youngest child for college, and I simply cannot cover the remaining cost alone.

Loyal is doing his part by applying for scholarships, seeking work study opportunities, and looking for ways to contribute. I am asking our family, friends, church, and community to help us close the remaining gap so he can not only start college, but stay and earn his degree.

Every donation, no matter the amount, brings him closer. If you cannot give, sharing Loyal's story would mean just as much.

I have spent his life telling him to keep going. I am simply asking for help making sure finances are not the reason he has to stop.
