Help Lox Recover After a Devastating Injury

Hi, my name is Tracey, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my sweet dog, Lox.

Recently, while I was out of town celebrating my birthday, Lox was staying with a trusted friend. Tragically, a family member released her without permission, and she ended up in the care of Fulton County Animal Services. When I found her, my heart broke.

Lox had been completely shaved, losing her signature cords — her beautiful “lox.” But even more devastating, her leg was broken in six places. The initial vet attempted surgery, but due to the severity of her injuries, they were forced to amputate her leg to save her life.

I was given the heartbreaking choice by Fulton County: if I surrendered her to the shelter, they would cover the surgery. But giving up Lox was never an option. She’s not just a pet — she’s family.

Anyone who knows me or my family knows how deeply we love and care for our dogs. Lox is the happiest, most loving soul, and despite everything, she’s still full of life and wagging her tail. We are doing everything we can to make sure she gets the best care, recovery, and a full life ahead of her — even on three legs.
