Hi, my name is Frankie Rose, and I am fundraising to help low-income families in New Orleans recover from Hurricane Ida.
Having been to New Orleans more times than I can count, the city has my heart. Ever since I first visited at three years old, I longed to return year after year. The fantastic food, street performers, and welcoming people attract many tourists to the heart of the French Quarter. I fell in love with New Orleans' unique, vibrant and passionate energy, but the city's allure masks the hardships faced by many of its residents.
According to the United States Census, 23.7% of New Orleans residents live beneath the poverty line; it has the highest poverty rate in the nation among the 50 largest metro areas. Now, many of these residents lost their homes, money, and belongings during Hurricane Ida. I want to help get low-income residents back on their feet, and I need your help.
50% of the money raised will be donated to Rebuilding Together New Orleans, which helps rebuild homes for low-income house owners who lost them during the hurricane. 25% will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank, an organization that prepares food boxes for residents facing hunger; for every one dollar donated, you will be feeding up to 4 residents. The remaining 25% will go towards the Financial Literacy Club non-profit organization to support a merit-based scholarship fund for students affected by Hurricane Ida.
