Hello, and welcome to my GoFundMe. My name is Lowel Goss, I am 61 years old, and a widower who is physically disabled from two spinal cord injuries. I am asking for your help to raise funds for my house taxes which are due by April 30, 2026. After which I will lose my home if the taxes aren’t paid in full. The amount that is due is $2,870 but I am hoping to raise $1,800.

It is said that your home is where you hang your hat, and I have hung my hat in this home for forty years. I knelt down on my knee and asked my wife for her hand in marriage in this very house, raised our son here, created many wonderful memories, took care of my mother-in-law up until the time she passed away, and where I took care of my wife when she had lung cancer and then fought multiple myeloma for twelve years before her passing in 2018.

I live off of a small amount that I receive monthly from Social Security Disability (SSDI) and also Social Security Spousal (SSI) benefits, which between the two amounts to less than $1,800 a month.

With the cost of living skyrocketing in this past year it has been hard to save any money throughout the year for the house taxes. My house taxes went up by several hundred dollars this year, my homeowners insurance premiums went through the roof leaving me no choice but to cancel it leaving me without insurance. My health insurance as well has shot up substantially and now I’m struggling to keep it going especially with the recent health issues I went through due to my disabilities.

Food, utilities, and even gas prices have been making it difficult once again to save up for my house taxes. With the recent health issue I experienced I was left with no choice but to use part of my house taxes that I had saved to pay for the medical costs.

Having to reach out to others asking for help is not easy and it greatly saddens me, especially in these times when so many others are suffering as well, making it that much more difficult to ask for your help.

The past eight years have been tough on me with losing my wife and her income in 2018 and then my two brothers and sister in the past three years. Most of my friends are no longer here as well, leaving me pretty much alone these days with my cats.

Losing my home would devastate me greatly, and this is why I need your help to get my story out to others. Your friends, family and others through word of mouth or across your social media platforms.
