Hi friends, chosen family, and supporters of all walks of life.
My name is Dori and I am very excited to share that I have completed all my requirements to graduate at Stanford University as a major in STS with a focus on Innovation & Design. This is something I am very proud of as a first-generation and low-income student who is the first of my family to be able to attend University. This was no easy task as Stanford is ranked as one of the top schools globally and because I have had to support myself financially my entire undergraduate career. With that being said, getting here has been a rewarding and exhausting experience. However, I am facing one last barrier to being able to graduate.
Despite the fact that I completed all of the requirements to complete my degree, I am being asked for $2500 to have my degree released because of changes to financial aid requirements out of my control. In addition, my only vehicle of transportation was stolen over the holidays and my insurance does not cover a replacement. I still do not have a job and risk facing housing insecurity without the help of my community right now. Normally people get to go home to their parents' house after finishing school, but this is not possible at all for me and instead, I have bills due every month.
I am raising money today because I would like the opportunity to rest and apply to jobs over the next couple of months and to afford a new vehicle. Donations will go directly towards housing security, my tuition bill, and transportation. Additionally, I recognized that I am not the only one going through hard times this year so a portion of the proceeds will also go to an organization I volunteer with @HotplatesForTheHouseless (IG) to buy food, medical and shelter supplies for houseless people in Miami, Fl. A cause that is deeply important to me as someone who dealt with homelessness as a teenager.
Anything helps! I will be offering the following for people who may want it:
$20 donation: a digital frame or portrait (1620 x 2160px) You can use this digital portrait for yourself or even gift it to a friend.
$35: Unique handmade mask (while supplies last)
$50 : A custom vinyl or screen print word on any shirt or denim OR digital file of it
$75: A design on any shirt or denim item of your choice OR digital file of it
$150 : Your choice of apparel from my shop JustbudzZz . These are all hand made one of one clothing items you can use for yourself or as a gift OR 1 College Prep Session for High School student (emphasis on Personal Essay & ACT/SAT writing)
$500: A one of a kind garment/clothing item made just for you OR 4 College Prep Sessions for High School student (emphasis on Personal Essay & ACT/SAT writing) OR custom logo design
