Lou is a beloved member of our community who runs a local youth group for queer and trans kids. They are kind, funny and resilient. Lou and their family need all of our help right now to survive, and we want to show them that the same love and support they give into the world will be there for them right now.

Lou's mum was admitted into hospital in May after a mental health crisis, and has only just returned home, where she is now housebound. This recent admission comes after a lifetime of poverty and severe trauma, and is not the first time she has been hospitalised due to a mental health crisis. While she has been in hospital Lou has looked after her house and their dog Oreo and tried to continue as normal, but as a disabled and traumatised person themselves this has been a very difficult time. As the hospital began to plan for discharge, a section of the roof fell in, which cost £6k to fix. Since then, rats have been found in the attic, the garage door has fallen off and the bath has broken. For Lou's mum to recover, the house desperately needs to be clean and safe.

The costs of looking after Lou's mum and creating a safe home are huge, but I firmly believe we can pull together as a community to look after Lou and their family in this time of urgent need.
