Help Louka run again

Today Louka is at the animal hospital for surgery. She has grade three luxating patellas and a possible cruciate ligament tear. Technical terms that mean that she can no longer use her back left leg without it causing her pain and further damage to her joint. 

Because she is so young- only 19 months- we decided to do the surgery for her left leg. Her right leg may need to be operated on in the future as well. The price of the surgery is between $4500- $5500, depending on what the surgeon finds during the procedure. This is about twice what we expected to pay for medical care for Louka at any given time.

Louka joined our family in the fall of 2019 as a 4 month old rescue pup who was found sick and motherless in Kentucky. We think that we are as lucky to have her as she is to have us and we hope to have many more years and adventures with her! We are very grateful for your support and any amount of financial help. Louka has a lengthy recovery period of at least 12 weeks ahead of her. We hope to have her back on her feet in time for summer so that she and Eliot can enjoy practicing their swim strokes together again.
