Louise Schmidt, Karl’s beloved mom, has faced an unimaginable journey over the past few years. In 2022, Louise was diagnosed with breast cancer and bravely underwent a lumpectomy, followed by routine checkups that confirmed she was cancer free. Life seemed to be returning to normal until March 2026, when Louise began suffering from severe headaches and intense pressure in her head. Despite multiple doctor visits and months of pain, nothing seemed to help. In June, Louise became unresponsive at home, prompting a 911 call and an emergency trip to the hospital. A CT scan revealed a tumor in her brain, and further scans found suspicious masses in her breast, lungs, and adrenal gland.

Louise underwent two brain surgeries to drain fluid caused by the tumor, and began radiation treatment to shrink it. Biopsies confirmed everyone’s worst fear: triple negative breast cancer had metastasized to her brain, lungs, and adrenal gland. Louise is currently receiving radiation and will soon begin chemotherapy. Through all of this, Karl’s dad has been by her side, unable to work while caring for her and managing the household. Louise is a dedicated custodian at West Elementary School in Great Falls, MT, and is loved by her community. She also has two other sons, Jacob and Austin, who are supporting her every step of the way.

The financial strain of medical bills and daily expenses has been overwhelming for Louise and her family. Karl is asking for support to help cover these costs, so Louise can focus on her treatment and recovery.
