Help Louise Get Back On Her Feet Again......

Hi, my name's Abi & I am organising this crowd funder in the hope that we can raise the money needed for our lovely Mum (Louise) to have some urgently required dental work so she can have a knee operation and get back to her old self and start dancing again!

Mum, who worked for over 30 years as an occupational therapist for the NHS and is now retired at the age of 73 has been severely effected by both Oesteoarthritis and 'presumed' Rheumatoid arthritis (inflammation in multiple joints) and over the past 6 months has experienced a steep and sudden decline in her mobility. For the past 2 - 3 months she has also been unable to sleep due to the pain she has been experiencing and as someone incredibly active who has spent her life walking everywhere, raising 5 children and working for the NHS -caring for others, Louise is now finding it very difficult just to stand up, move around and carry out basic day to day tasks due to the pain and stiffness she is dealing with.

Myself, my 4 siblings, and all 10 of Louise's Grand-kids are all desperate to see her back on her feet, pain free and living life to the fullest again. Watching mum's ability to just get on with each day as she always has done has been completely devastating for all of us and not least for Louise herself.

Following an appointment with a consultant at 'The Dutchy' in Cornwall Mum has finally been placed on the NHS waiting list for a knee replacement last month. This would be life changing and would allow her to get back on her feet again and currently the waiting list for this operation is 12 months.

In order to be able to have the operation there is a couple of things that need to be resolved first :

1 ) As I mentioned at the start, Louise also has 'presumed' Rheumatoid Arthritis (inflammation), effecting several joints and prior to having the knee operation she has been advised that the inflammation needs to be reduced and brought under control. She is currently in discussion with the doctor and the rheumatologist about the different options available for doing this and I will keep this page updated as and when there is any developments on this.

2 ) Mum has also been to see a private dentist recently after being unable to find an NHS dentist in the area for years and needs to have a substantial amount of work carried out to ensure that she does not have an infection in her teeth or gums at the time of the knee op as this could spread to the operation site which has the potential to be extremely dangerous. The cost of this treatment has been quoted at £3000. This is completely un-affordable for mum right now and this is why we have decided to launch a crowd funder.

As a family we have already crowdfunded everything we can between ourselves up until this point to support Mum in trying to resolve this situation but none of us have the sort of money needed for the dentist fees and so we have decided to reach out to everyone who knows and loves Louise to see if we can help rally you all together to get her back out in the garden and enjoying life again.
