On 8/7/2025, our little boy Louis got diagnosed with Leukemia (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) at only 7 months old. Louis has started therapy, an aggressive chemotherapy treatment, at the Colorado Children's Hospital, which he will have to continue for at least the rest of the year. We'll spend most of that time together in the hospital with him, as leaving his hospital room is too risky most of the time due to his immune system being wiped out by the chemo.
As of today, we don't yet know what his final diagnosis is, and thus what his final treatment plan will be, as we are still awaiting full testing. It is possible, or even likely, he will need a bone marrow transplant sometime in the fall or winter.
As always though, Louis is a fighter and is in the best of spirits. He's cheerful, laughing, playful, and making all the nurses fall in love with him. Any bit of support you can provide will help us take care of him and ourselves during his long hospital stays and make sure he can get all the care in the world.
For those who wish to help out him or kids like him in other ways, please donate blood and platelets whenever you can. Having blood available during the early days of his diagnosis made sure he was strong enough to feel like himself and to start therapy, and he’ll likely need much more after each round of chemo.
For those local to Denver, donations at the children's hospital go as much as possible directly to the kids here: Donate Blood at Children's Hospital.
We thank you for all your love and support.
Louis, Cindy & Michael
