Louie has been my loyal companion for eight years, ever since I first fostered him as a tiny two-month-old kitten. What started as a foster experience quickly turned into a forever bond—I “foster failed” and adopted him, and we’ve shared a wonderful life together ever since. Louie has always been there for me, especially during the darkest times in my life. When I was 19 and felt completely alone and hopeless, Louie was the one who saved me. Now, I want to do everything I can to save him in return.
This past Saturday night, I rushed Louie to the emergency vet hospital, where he was diagnosed with Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) and hospitalized in critical condition. Despite starting treatment right away, Louie hasn’t responded as well as the vet team hoped. The doctors now believe there may be another underlying health issue—possibly cancer, hyperthyroidism, pancreatitis, or kidney failure. Louie needs more tests, imaging, and medication to get a clear diagnosis and the right treatment. The cost of his care is overwhelming, but I am determined to give him every chance to recover and come home, where I can manage his diabetes and help him live a happy, healthy life.
Louie is absolutely precious and priceless to me. I can’t imagine parting from him, and I don’t want the cost of treatment to be the deciding factor in his life. If you’re able to donate or share our story, it would mean the world to both of us. Your support will help Louie get the care he needs and give us more time together. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for anything you can give.
