Help Loui Recover and Keep Adventuring

Donation protected
I met Loui after a routine visit to my dentist whose dog had puppies. Everything seemed to click as she explained the puppies to me. I tried to get everyone to talk me out of getting a puppy but it was fated. That same day, I met Loui and he immediately followed me everywhere. We mutually imprinted on each other. Loui has been a survivor from the very beginning. Just three days after bringing him home, I learned he was fighting parvovirus and had only a 50% chance of survival with hospitalization. Loui pulled through, and since then, he’s been my loyal companion on countless adventures across the country. He’s a goofy, gentle giant who loves running in the mountains and swimming in lakes and oceans. Every day starts with Loui’s kisses, and he motivates me to be adventurous and social. He truly is the single most important thing in my life.

Recently, Loui faced a series of serious health challenges. He underwent TPLO knee surgery in May, but complications arose with recurring infections in his leg. Despite multiple follow-up visits, his body ultimately rejected the metal plate, requiring another surgery to remove it. During this procedure, we also decided to neuter him and perform a gastropexy to prevent future health issues. Although Loui did well during surgery, afterwards he began experiencing severe bleeding. He was transferred to a specialty animal hospital, where he received multiple plasma transfusions to help his blood clot and replace what he lost. We are monitoring his red blood cell count, and may potentially need a blood transfusion. Throughout this ordeal, Loui has remained stable, but the process has been emotionally and financially overwhelming.

The costs of Loui’s surgeries, hospitalizations, and ongoing treatments have quickly added up, and insurance only covers a portion of the expenses. I am reaching out for support to help cover the remaining vet bills and ensure Loui gets the care he needs to recover fully. Loui is only four years old, and his prognosis is good—he has so many more adventures ahead. Your support will help us get through this difficult time and give Loui the chance to keep living his best life by my side.
