Help "Loud Layla" Beat Cancer

Donation protected
Friends,

It is with a sad but optimistic heart that I reach out to inform you that our Beautiful, Goofy, Agouti Princess, Miss Loud Layla, has Cancer.

During a routine health screening, her new veterinarian found a small mass located in her left front “armpit”. After testing, the mass was found to be a Stage 1 Mast Cell Tumor.

The good news, is that we found it early, it doesn’t appear to have spread anywhere and MCT’s are the most common type of skin cancer in dogs and with surgical removal, over 80% of dogs recover without remission.

The bad news, is that due to location of the tumor, the surgery to remove it becomes a little more complicated and as with all things medicine, complicated means expensive.

The total estimated cost of Layla’s surgery and pre/post op care, is just over 2.4 thousand.

If Layla was older, we could treat this with histamine blockers and just hope for as much time as we could get. However treating it that way will result in it eventually getting worse and the time table is then entirely uncertain because when it does come back it’ll come back worse. If Layla was older I’d say let’s treat it in a reasonable way and get what time we can with her… but Layla just turned 6. The average life expectancy for a Siberian Husky is 12-15 years. She isn’t even halfway done being the lovable goofball she is and we couldn’t live with ourselves if we ended up cutting that time so much shorter simply because we couldn’t afford her surgery.

So now comes the awkward part where I ask you to please consider donating something towards her care. She truly is a great dog, with an incredible story and she’s only had 4 years of happiness with us after the misery that was her first two years of life. She picked us by breaking out of the crate she was confined in, multiple times, while I was at a home with 50+ huskies, trying to evaluate another dog. She knew where she wanted to be, and made sure she found a way to endear herself to us every step of the way.

Please. Help us save Loud Layla. So that she can continue to sing the song of her people for many more years to come.

P.S. - I have also applied for grants with three different organizations that help pay for previously rescued dogs medical treatment. If she gets approved, any money left over from this GoFundMe will be donated directly to the rescue who helped us save her (and our other three huskies) in the first place.
