I'm fundraising to help with the staggering £45,000 cost of some gender affirming surgery, specifically facial feminisation surgery, scheduled for March 2027.

At a first glance, facial feminisation surgery might sound like a cosmetic or vanity surgery. Wouldn't it just be easier to make peace with the face I have?

I wish that was true, and that passing as a 'regular woman' wasn't so important. But

unfortunately not in the UK, in the current political climate.

Not if I want to be able to take a train journey without being stared at like a zoo animal, go into a shop without being looked at with disgust or suspicion, walk around on my own without fear of meeting the wrong person, or eat in a restaurant without hearing others giggle about me.

This surgery won't be beautifying, just changing my bone structure to look less masculine, to help me achieve my goal of living a normal life without unwanted attention or fear.

Facial feminisation surgery isn't covered by the NHS. But that wouldn't help anyway, as I've been on the NHS waiting list for 4 years now without hearing anything back, and every part of my transition so far (diagnosis, hormones, fertility preservation, facial hair removal, voice training etc) has been self-funded, to a total probably approaching £10,000 by now.

All donations will go towards the cost of the surgery itself, repaying the huge loans involved, the cost of travelling to the specialists in Spain, and helping with rent and living expenses when I return (my recovery time will likely exceed my sickness allowance at work) giving me the chance to recuperate with less stress and anxiety on my mind.
