Help Lou Cabales Smash Cancer!

Please Help. Hi, I'm Stacey Monn-Vudrag, and I'm setting up a fundraiser for one of my best friends, Lou Cabales, as he battles stomach cancer.

In November, Lou moved from his home in Florida to take a contract nursing position in Fargo, North Dakota. He packed up his belongings, and he drove cross country with his two cats to take on this new adventure.

In early December, a few weeks short weeks after arriving in Fargo, Lou was admitted to the ER for gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding (again).

After some tests, the doctors diagnosed Lou with Stage 3 carcinoma of the gastroesophageal junction—more simply known as stomach cancer.

This earth-shattering experience has been a massive struggle, but he has managed to face this diagnosis head-on with courage and bravery.

Lou has started his cancer treatment plan, initially 8 weeks of chemotherapy.

This coming week, he will have open abdominal surgery to remove the cancer and will then need at least 3-4 weeks of recovery. Then, he will an additional 8 weeks of chemotherapy.

Incredibly, he had still been working through all of this even though he was doing chemo. Unfortunately, Lou faced a new setback that made things even more difficult.

Lou learned that his work contract was not extended. While his contract was only for a few months, it's typical for these types of traveling nurse jobs to continue past their initial term. Sadly, this was not the case this time and the timing couldn't have been worse.

Now Lou has the added burden of trying to find a new job on top of the physical and mental stress of dealing with cancer. He really needs the time off to focus on improving his health.

I don't know about the rest of you, but getting a cancer diagnosis is brutal enough. But to be in a new state all alone with no support system there to help, must triple suck. And then to have to worry about getting a job and finances on top of it all. It's too much for any person to endure.

Lou should be spending this time focused on beating cancer and getting well. Any of you who know Lou knows he is one of the most generous people in the world. He would give someone the shirt off of his back if it would help them in some way.

He's not one to ask for charity or handouts, so I'm doing it on his behalf.

Lou needs all our help.

Our goal is to raise enough funds to help him get through his treatment and recovery without having to stress over money.

The money we raise will help Lou pay for his insurance and medical bills so that he can continue to receive treatments. Anything left over will help Lou cover his rent and other living expenses, while recovering and unable to work.

It would be fantastic to raise enough for him to have a buffer in the event his recovery takes longer than anticipated.

Even though he's eager to find a new job and start working again once he recovers from his surgery, a little help from you could change the world for Lou.

Please, help in any way you can. No amount is too small and even if you can't donate, please spread the word.

Let's all help Lou smash cancer!

Thank you all so much in advance.
